The new Graduate Program in Biology of Extreme Environments at the University of Naples, Federico II, Italy will start in October 2021.
The new graduate program will be the first of its kind in Europe, enterely in English, open-enrollment, and accessible to Biology, Biotechnology, and Natural Science graduates. The Graduate Program is articulated in two curricula, "Astrobiology" and "Biological Reseources".
The researcher Donato Giovanelli, creator of the course explains: "Extreme environments are all those habitats where the physical and chemical conditions are difficult to be compatible with human life: whether on Earth or in space. Studying these places, ranging from the depths of the oceans to the Poles, through volcanoes and geysers, means going to the origins of the evolution of life".
