The Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources (IGG) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), together with the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Florence, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the Italian Geological Society and the Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering-CNR, organizes the conference “Il terremoto del 29 Giugno 1919 e la sismicità in Mugello”

The Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources (IGG) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), together with the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Florence, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the Italian Geological Society and the Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering-CNR, organizes the conference “Il terremoto del 29 Giugno 1919 e la sismicità in Mugello” (The June 29, 1919, earthquake and the seismicity in Mugello), which will be held in Borgo San Lorenzo (Florence) at the Auditorium dell’Istituto di Istruzione Superiore Giotto Ulivi on Dec 14th, at 2.30 pm. The conference is the closing event of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the 1919 Mugello earthquake. The talks, of divulgative nature, will focus on the 1919 event and on the seismicity of the Mugello basin and the studies which are now in progress to better understand it. They will be given by CNR-IGG, University of Florence and INGV experts; among these experts, worth to note is the presence of the President of INGV Prof. Carlo Doglioni, the President of the Italian Geological Society Prof. Sandro Conticelli, the Director of the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Florence Prof. Carlo Alberto Garzonio and the Director of CNR-IGG Dr. Antonello Provenzale.
