Gran Paradiso Summer School “The Future of Critical Zone” Valsavarenche, Italy, 21-28 June 2024

The Gran Paradiso Summer School will take place from 21 - 28 June 2024 (Valsavarenche, Italy). The international Gran Paradiso Summer School "The Future of Critical Zone" is organized by Tim White (Penn State) and Antonello Provenzale (CNR IGG), in the framework of the Belmont Forum ABRESO project and of the Italian ITINERIS PNRR project, in collaboration with the Gran Paradiso National Park, LifeWatch ERIC and eLTER RI.

The Critical Zone (CZ) is the support system to all terrestrial ecosystems, extending from unweathered rock to the top of the vegetation canopy. In the CZ, physical, biological, geological and hydrological processes interact at multiple temporal and spatial scales. During the school, the participants will explore the functioning of the Critical Zone, its relationships with ecosystem dynamics and its future under climate and environmental change. The school is aimed primarily at PhD students and post-doc researchers. To apply, please fill out this application form and submit it by email to gpss(at)igg.cnr.it. The deadline for applications is 5 April 2024.
