Two laboratories for children have been created in collaboration with the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Pisa:

Also the rocks talk: all the "stones" have an age and a history and, if we know their language, they can tell us pictures of our planet. By observing the different rocks, the children will learn to recognize the main minerals, their structures and, with this information, will know if the rock has formed beneath the Earth's surface by a slow cooling of a magma body, if it was formed as a result of a volcanic eruption, if it is composed of fragments of other rocks previously eroded or if it has been transformed under the ground following an increase in pressure and temperature. Responsible: Claudia Principe, Istituto di Geoscienze e Georisorse, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.

The stones of the city walls (and monuments) of Pisa: understand the urban geology of Pisa and its territory by studying the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics and the main physical properties of the rocks used in the monumental building of Pisa (6-18 years). Responsible: Marco Lezzerini, Dip. Scienze della Terra - Unipi.
