VESPA – Integrated Assessment of Ecosystem Services on the Island of Pianosa

The VESPA project aims to provide an integrated assessment of the main ecosystem services on the Island of Pianosa, with the goal of providing the Tuscan Archipelago National Park with an updated knowledge framework to support the sustainable management, protection, and enhancement of the territory.
Through a multidisciplinary approach, the project will analyze the functions and benefits associated with island ecosystems, with particular emphasis on coastal protection, regulation of ecological cycles, carbon storage, support for biodiversity, opportunities for scientific research, sustainable tourism, and the island's landscape and cultural value.
The activities will contribute to the development of knowledge tools useful for environmental planning and sustainable management of the Island of Pianosa, consistent with the objectives of conservation, sustainable development, and shared governance promoted by the UNIT-MAB project.

Il progetto è finanziato dal Parco Nazionale Arcipelago Toscano – PNAT, nell’ambito del progetto UNIT-MAB – UNesco Iniziative Trasfrontaliere – Man And Biosphere, ID JEMS IF Marittimo00283, finanziato dal Programma INTERREG VI-A Italia-Francia “Marittimo” 2021–2027.
