Environmental geochemistry studies the geochemical processes that characterize and shape the Earth's surface, in both natural and human-induced settings, with the aim of identifying potential contamination and protecting the environment through monitoring activities on various environmental (water, soil/sediment/rock, air) and biological (e.g., plant) matrices.
