{"id":5991,"date":"2025-11-26T14:14:57","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T13:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2igg.cnr.it\/?page_id=5991"},"modified":"2026-03-30T09:50:02","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T07:50:02","slug":"m-wave","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.igg.cnr.it\/en\/m-wave\/","title":{"rendered":"m-WAVE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The m-WAVE (monitoring Water and Air oVer Earth) Laboratory was founded in 2023 to design, implement, and manage hardware and software for the remote control of instrumentation dedicated to monitoring remote ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-essential-blocks-accordion  root-eb-accordion-wsttb\"><div class=\"eb-parent-wrapper eb-parent-eb-accordion-wsttb\"><div class=\"eb-accordion-container eb-accordion-wsttb\" data-accordion-type=\"accordion\" data-tab-icon=\"dashicons-plus-alt2\" data-expanded-icon=\"dashicons-minus\" data-transition-duration=\"500\"><div class=\"eb-accordion-inner\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-essential-blocks-accordion-item eb-accordion-item-olg5s eb-accordion-wrapper\" data-clickable=\"false\"><div class=\"eb-accordion-title-wrapper eb-accordion-title-wrapper-eb-accordion-wsttb\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"eb-accordion-icon-wrapper eb-accordion-icon-wrapper-eb-accordion-wsttb\"><span class=\"dashicon dashicons dashicons-plus-alt2 eb-accordion-icon\"><\/span><\/span><div class=\"eb-accordion-title-content-wrap title-content-eb-accordion-wsttb\"><h3 class=\"eb-accordion-title\">The Laboratory<\/h3><\/div><\/div><div class=\"eb-accordion-content-wrapper eb-accordion-content-wrapper-eb-accordion-wsttb\"><div class=\"eb-accordion-content\">\n<p>The m-WAVE (Monitoring Water and Air over Earth) Laboratory was created to design, implement, and manage hardware and software for the remote control of instrumentation dedicated to monitoring remote ecosystems.<br>a) The design is designed to meet the needs of specific research activities requiring continuous monitoring of remote ecosystems.<br>b) The instrumentation and related connection network are implemented through the coordination of all phases of the in-situ infrastructure construction. Where necessary, the laboratory utilizes appropriate external resources in consultation with the project's scientific director.<br>c) The data acquired in situ and sent via the communications network are archived within the infrastructure built at the CNR-IGG institute. The laboratory is responsible for implementing and managing it in compliance with current legislation and the CNR's internal regulations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-essential-blocks-accordion-item eb-accordion-item-tlt72 eb-accordion-wrapper\" data-clickable=\"false\"><div class=\"eb-accordion-title-wrapper eb-accordion-title-wrapper-eb-accordion-wsttb\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"eb-accordion-icon-wrapper eb-accordion-icon-wrapper-eb-accordion-wsttb\"><span class=\"dashicon dashicons dashicons-plus-alt2 eb-accordion-icon\"><\/span><\/span><div class=\"eb-accordion-title-content-wrap title-content-eb-accordion-wsttb\"><h3 class=\"eb-accordion-title\">Instruments<\/h3><\/div><\/div><div class=\"eb-accordion-content-wrapper eb-accordion-content-wrapper-eb-accordion-wsttb\"><div class=\"eb-accordion-content\">\n<p>The m-WAVE (monitoring Water and Air oVer Earth) Laboratory has among its tasks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Management of the IT infrastructure of the hydrological and hydrogeological monitoring network of the Island of Pianosa consisting of CTD divers, lysimeters and weather stations: management of data transmission from the individual nodes of the network (CTD divers, lysimeters and weather stations) to Pozzo3, management of the communication devices installed at Pozzo3, management of data transmission from Pozzo3 to IGG-CNR (Pisa), management of remote control of the aforementioned instrumentation through the implementation of a VPN, management of online data visualization;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Management of the IT infrastructure for data transmission from the accumulation chambers installed on the Island of Pianosa for measuring CO2 concentration: management of data transmission from Well 3 to IGG-CNR (Pisa) and the implementation of a VPN necessary for the correct functioning of the instrumentation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Management of the IT infrastructure for data transmission from the Eddy-Covariance tower installed on Colle del Nivolet: management of data transmission from the Eddy-Covariance tower to IGG-CNR (Pisa) through the implementation of a VPN;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Management of the IT infrastructure for data transmission from the accumulation chambers installed on Colle del Nivolet: management of data transmission from the chambers to IGG-CNR (Pisa) through the implementation of a VPN;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Management of the IT infrastructure for data transmission of the Eddy-Covariance tower installed on Etna: management of data transmission from the chambers to the IGG-CNR (Pisa) through the implementation of a VPN;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Management of the IT infrastructure for data transmission from the accumulation chambers installed on Etna: management of data transmission from the chambers to the IGG-CNR (Pisa) through the implementation of a VPN;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Management of the IT infrastructure for data reception from the Eddy-Covariance tower installed in Ny-Alesund in the Arctic: management of data reception at IGG-CNR (Pisa);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Management of the IT infrastructure for data transmission from the CNR Ny-A Carbon Flux Observatory, both during the test phase when the system will be installed on Monte Cimone, and at full capacity when the system will be installed in Ny-Alesund in the Arctic;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Storage and backup of data received from the aforementioned monitoring networks: management of the infrastructure, software and hardware, created and managed by the laboratory itself at the CNR-IGG Institute (Pisa).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-essential-blocks-accordion-item eb-accordion-item-j5x42 eb-accordion-wrapper\" data-clickable=\"false\"><div
