TRETAMARA
TREZZE, TEGNUE AND MARINE ENVIRONMENTS OF NORTHERN ADRIATIC SEA: MANAGEMENT PROPOSALS
In the northern Adriatic Sea there are marine and coastal habitats that favor and support a significant animal and plant biodiversity, represented by the geo-biogenic outcrops of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto, by the Cladocora caespitosa dead corallites on the Slovenian side, by the numerous coastal-littoral ZSC-ZPS. The results of the Trecorala project (Interreg Ita-Slo 2007-13) assessed the ecological status of the geo-biogenic formations, which have been recognized as Site of Community Importance (SCI) due to the presence of priority habitats such as coralligenous and rhodolites and maerl beds on the sea floor. In Slovenia, the formations at Cladocora caespitosa are selected in the protected marine areas “Debeli Rtič Landscape Park” and “Natural Park of Strunjan”. TRETAMARA aims to capitalize on previous knowledge, to enhance the best management practices, drawing up a document that supports the drafting of the management plans of the coastal and marine SCI areas, contributing to the harmonization of the plans of management at Northern Adriatic level. The project would like to propose national and transnational guidelines for an integrated management of the marine-coastal habitat and a high ecological value also through targeted actions with highly innovative content.
