Phoenix-V5 systems

Instruments::

In collaboration with West Systems s.r.l. IGG built its own MT receivers, enriching the lab of two new prototypes acquiring MT data in low and high frequency bands. The new receivers optimize the electronics, reducing the weight and power consuption. Data are recorded on flash cards.

Broadband systems ( 320-3•10-3Hz):

  • 2 Phoenix-V5 systems, complete of induction coils and air loops

Low frequency systems and sensors (1-3•10-4Hz, 24 bit digital sampling):

  • 3 NIMS systems

  • 5 WEST-IGG systems

  • 3 three-component fluxgate magnetometers, 40 non polarizzable electrodes, cables and spare parts

High frequency systems and sensors (105-10-1 Hz):

  • 1 Geometrics Stratagem AMT system

  • 1 transmitter for CSAMT

  • 2 WEST-IGG systems

  • 4 induction coils, 40 non polarizzable electrodes and 8 metal spikes, cables and spare parts

Fields of Applications:

  • Volcanological studies, to define depth and volumes of magma chambers in active volcanoes.

  • Geothermal exploration to investigate fluid paths and heat source location.

  • Hydrogeophysics, to investigate fluid path.
