Instruments:

  • Linkam THMSG 600 heating/freezing stage (-180/+600°C) equipped with a liquid nitrogen cooling system (LNP93/2) and a temperature controller and  programmer (TMS93/1500) and Linkam high temperature (up to 1500°C) TS 1500 stage.
  • Leitz Ortholux transmitted-light microscope equipped with 20x, 50x and 80x Olympus long-working distance objective lenses on which the Linkam stages can mounted.
  •  JVC TK-C1380 video camera for digital image acquisition.
  •  LinkSys software for the control of the TMS93 system from a PC and the capture of both data and digital images.
  •  Quartz disc containing synthetic fluid inclusions of different composition and density employed for stage thermocouple calibration and for didactic purpose.
  •  Crushing test stage.

    Fields of Applications:

    • Geothermal field modeling and reconstruction of fluid-rock interaction within geothermal reservoirs.

    • Characterization of the physical-chemical conditions of the hydrothermal systems responsible for genesis of industrial rocks and ore deposits.

    • Thermo-barometric reconstruction on metamorphic and volcanic complexes.
    • Relation between tectonic structures and physical-chemical features of the fluids migration through these structures.
    •  Mineral CO2-sequestration: information from the study of natural system.
